We sat down with PHP Developer Calvin Taylor to find out how he’s settling in at Radiator and why his office playlist choices have broken the record for most vetoes.

What do you mean what kept you - he started months ago? Just read the article. Jeez!

How have your first few weeks months :P been, and what type of work have you been involved in?

My first few weeks at Radiator were mainly spent becoming familiar with the company’s infrastructure – I then started to implement new technologies that I felt would be beneficial for overall site deployments/tracking and management.

What did you do before joining Radiator?

I was a Symfony developer for an in-house rock/metal music company, so pretty different workflows!

Is working for Radiator what you expected?

To be honest I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had never worked within an agency before, so it was a new experience for me!

Which aspect(s) of the job are you most looking forward to in the coming weeks/months?

Umm well I am currently working on the development and build stages of one of our new client sites. This is the first time I’ve been able to get properly stuck in to Magento and it’s going well, so I’m looking forward to having it polished up!

What appeals to you about working for a digital agency?

So far from my experience, it’s great from the development side of things to have a lot of different projects to be jumping on! It has also provided the opportunity to learn a lot about our .NET based applications which is the opposite end of what I focus on!

What's your favourite travel destination, and why?

Switzerland! Mainly for the northern lights and spectacular views (always been a bit of a space geek). My better half and I plan to travel there next year!

What's your favourite movie?

Pulp fiction! You can’t beat Quentin Tarantino!

Who's your favourite band/solo artist?

Oh God I have an acquired taste... a band called Parkway Drive – Australian metalcore for days! Ahahah I discovered them back in high school and have been a fan and crowd surfed many gigs ever since.

What’s your favourite haunt in town and why?

"Favourite haunt"? That’s pretty hipster.. ahahah, emm probably The Cathouse - bang on for my music taste!

What are your main interests/hobbies outside of work?

Food, guitars or coding is pretty much the sum of a standard night with me – been getting into fitness recently as well in attempt to try and be a bit healthier!

Do you have any secret talents, achievements or claims to fame?

Emm I’ve played guitar for like ever; nearly even bought one for the office! I only really play at home, though never had the time for a band! I do love it though! Maybe I'll start busking… who knows.
