Getting down to business
We caught up with the newest member of Radiator - Business Development Executive, Sean Mooney, to find out how he's settling in and where his passions lie.
How have your first few weeks been, and what type of work have you been involved in?
They have been great. I was in Australia for a month in between jobs before joining Radiator and the transition back into work has been a lot easier than I expected it to be. So far, my main focus has been working on email campaigns with the goal of recruiting new clients for Radiator to work with.
What did you do before joining Radiator?
Prior to starting here I worked as an Affiliate Marketing Manager for an online retailer selling designer furniture and homewares.
Is working for Radiator what you expected?
I guess so – everyone is friendly and that makes it a great atmosphere to work in.
Which aspect(s) of the job are you most looking forward to in the coming weeks/months?
If you asked me last week, I would've said Go-karting! Kidding – I’m really excited about the prospect of finding new clients for Radiator to work with. My previous job was sales-orientated so I am hoping to bring some of the skills I learned there into Radiator.
What appeals to you about working for a digital agency?
One thing that appeals to me is the fact that no two clients are the same. Everyone is looking for something different with a common goal of improving their business and this keeps things exciting and interesting.
What's your favourite travel destination, and why?
That's a tough one. I have been lucky enough to travel to many cities across Europe and beyond, so it would be hard to pick an out and out favourite. I've been to Amsterdam on a few different occasions and in my opinion it's the coolest city in Europe, so I'll go with that.
What's your favourite movie?
Another difficult question as there are so many, however one that stands out is the original Trainspotting film - I never tire of watching it. I thoroughly enjoyed the sequel to it that came out this year also.
Who's your favourite band/solo artist?
I have quite a wide variety in taste when it comes to music. For bands, it would be Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and the likes. Going back a few years, The Clash and The Jam are another two of my favourite bands – I probably have my dad to thank for them for playing them in his car from when I was a young age. Paolo Nutini is the first solo artist that springs to mind.
What are your main interests/hobbies outside of work?
Football. Playing for my team or spectating at stadiums up and down Scotland and further afield, I am obsessed. I would say that 90% of my free time is spent either watching or playing football. I am always at the cinema with my girlfriend and as a result I have seen every film going - so much so I now have a black Cineworld unlimited card. I also enjoy beating my friends at FIFA 17.
Do you have any secret talents, achievements or claims to fame?
My favourite claim to fame is that Celtic's all-time top goal scorer - James McGrory - is my Gran's cousin, so I'll take that! He was recently joined in the history books by a certain Lionel Messi, as one of only eight professional footballers to have reached 500 career goals for a single club.
Now you know a little more about Sean, feel free to drop him a line to discuss upcoming events and networking opportunities; or to ask him the real reason he likes Amsterdam! Email: [email protected].
